The Bible teaches that baptism is the first step of obedience after deciding to follow Jesus. Baptism is going public with your faith.  Baptism does not save a person or guarantee a person’s salvation; rather, baptism is a way of publicly identifying oneself with Christ. Anyone who has placed his/her faith in Christ is encouraged to take this pivotal step of “going public” as a follower of Jesus.
